From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Several witnesses observed the aircraft roll wings level momentarily on the turn to final; it was descending at a high rate. All witnesses stated the aircraft then rolled into a left 60 degree bank, followed by a quick left roll to a 90 degree bank and a sharp nose drop toward the horizon. At that point it hit the ground 2052' east of the end of runway 28 and 306' north of the extended centerline. The aircraft wreckage came to rest approximately 150 yards further west. A short fire ensued. The aircraft was destroyed and the two pilot occupants were killed.
