From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On January 8, 2006, during a local flight in the vicinity of the Medford Oregon airport, the pilot of a Bellanca super viking N1298R noticed the gear light flickering indicating that the gear was not up and locked. When the pilot attempted to extend the gear and land, the gear lights indicated that the gear was in transit and did not give a gear "down and locked" indication. After following all of the emergency gear extension procedures in the pilots operating handbook, he requested permission to fly by the tower to check gear position. The tower indicated that the nose gear did not appear down and locked. The pilot privacy data omitted again attempted to extend the gear. The tower again indicated that the nose gear appeared to be only partially down. The pilot privacy data omitted attempted to land at approximately 17:02 local time. Shortly after landing the right main gear collapsed causing minor damage to the tail hook area, the right main gear door, right wing tip and aileron. There were no injuries.
