From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On January 21, 2006, at 12:10 pm local time aircraft N6697N, a Beechcraft be 76-76, attempted to land on runway 14 at 2J2 Liberty County Airport. The weather was reported to be 10 KTS at 210, with visibility of 10 sm and broken clouds at 2100 ft. upon touchdown on runway 14, the pilot stated that "a popping noise was heard" and that the aircraft immediately veered to the left. The aircraft subsequently departed off the left side of the runway, the pilot at this point elected to go around. As the aircraft neared the tree line on the left side of the runway (approximately 200 yards) the pilot stated, "while pulling back to clear the trees the stall warning horn went off, the pilot retracted the landing gear and flaps and immediately after retracting the flaps the left wing stalled." The aircraft came to rest approximately 260 yards from the edge of the runway, at which point it was destroyed by post accident fire. When the iic inspected the aircraft it was noted that the flaps were retracted and the left main gear was found down and locked. Further inspection of the aircraft noted that on the left engine the throttle was full open to the stops (right engine was destroyed). The pilot walked away from the accident.
