From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Immediately after engine start the aircraft began to move forward, the airman applied both brakes, the right brake failed, the aircraft veered to the left and struck a parked Cessna 172. The Cessna received minor damage to the nose cowling, propeller spinner, the left wing and the horizontal stabilizer. The Velocity received substantial damage to the left wing and left winglet. The pilot and sole occupant received no injuries. (-23 amendment) further investigation revealed the airman was repositioning the aircraft from one hangar to another. After consultation with NTSB it was agreed there was no intention for flight and therefore was not subject to NTSB part 830. This accident has been downgraded to an incident.
