From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On January 29, 2006 about 0907 hawaiian standard time, a Eurocopter AS-350-D, N90Q, experienced a total loss of engine power during cruise flight. During the ensuing autorotative descent, the helicopter landed hard in a field near Kahului, Hawaii. The pilot reported that after departure he climbed approximately 2,000 feet above ground level and commenced the planned 45 minute long tour flight. During the enroute he heard a couple of loud sounds emanating from the engine. Immediately thereafter, all engine power was lost, and he made a hard forced landing on a downsloping sugar cane field.
