From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Private pilot privacy data omitted conducted a personal pleasure flight from darby dan airport (6I6) to Union County Airport (mrt). Approaching Union country he descended in a right turning spiral from 4,000 feet to 2,000 feet in preparation for entering the traffic pattern. The engine stopped running about 2100 feet. The pilot executed the required emergency procedures. He also changed fuel tanks. The engine momentarily ran and then stopped. The pilot was able to land the aircraft in a field without damage to the aircraft or property. The pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft and he sustained no injuries. The investigation of the aircraft revealed that the left tank was about one-third full. The right tank had a lesser amount of fuel. The engine was started with fuel from the left tank. The fuel selector was changed to the right tank and the engine continued. The engine failure was not due to fuel starvation. The descending right spiral most likely unported the engine and there was not enough time to restart the engine.

As the FAA filed it

(-23) PRIVATE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OM^ CONDUCTED A PERSONAL PLEASURE FLIGHT FROM DARBY DAN AIRPORT (6I6) TO UNION COUNTY AIRPORT (MRT).
