From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During the landing the pilot came in a little fast for runway 02 at the Cedar City airport. He stayed in ground effect for awhile. When the plane settled to the ground it came down fast and hit hard on the nose gear. A bolt on the nose gear broke and the gear collapsed damaging the lower engine cowling and the propeller struck the ground hard. The force broke the composite blades on the propeller. The pilot mentioned that the wind was gusty at altitude but on the ground it was not. It may have been thermals he was experiencing at altitude. privacy data omitted
