From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was on a demo flight for a potential buyer. The buyer was in the passenger seat and the PIC was in the left seat. On final approach, the PIC had the passenger operate the flap handle and he claimed he operated the landing gear switch, held his hand up to block the sun shining on the panel and looked at the gear lights. His claim is that the gear collapsed on touchdown. Evidence on the runway, damage to the aircraft and operational checks of the landing gear all indicate that the gear was never extended. Damage was minimal and there were no injuries.
