From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot privacy data omitted propped his aircraft and after the engine started the aircraft began to move. The pilot privacy data omitted ^ immediately attempted to reach into the cockpit to stop the engine. During this attempt the pilot privacy data omitted ^ grabbed the wing strut which turned the aircraft. The aircraft subsequently taxied into the fuel pump located on ramp causing damage to the propeller and fuel pumps. The 3/8 inch diameter cable the pilot privacy data omitted ^ always uses to secure the tailwheel to a ground tie-down ring came undone from the tail wheel allowing the aircraft to move. The cable used contained a swedged loop at each end. The pressed sledge came loose allowing the cable to become unattached from the tailwheel. The pilot privacy data omitted was counseled about painting slip marks on the cable and inspecting same before each use.
