From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot indicates that he experienced greater than forecast winds aloft enroute from ulysses, Kansas to boulder, Colorado. Pilot diverted to Limon, CO for a precautionary additional fuel stop. Pilot attempted a landing on runway 16 with the winds (per ATIS) @190 and 15-25KTS. On touchdown, in a crosswind landing configuration, the pilot lost directional control and was pushed off the runway to the west. While continuing rollout off runway he applied power in an attempt to become airborne. His left landing gear caught a ditch running perpendicular to the runway at which time he lost all control. Substantial damage to aircraft including a broken wing spar and left landing gear. No injuries.
