From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot stated took off from pib at 1710. While passing through 6500' felt a vibration and noticed manifold pressure dropping. Checked throttle and got some power back, noticed oil pressure dropping to "0". Tried returning to pib but lost all power and made a wheels up landing in a pasture. Pilot stated 10 1/2 quarts of clean oil in engine during preflight. On 4/6/06 drained slightly less than 3 quarts of black overheated oil from engine. Found #3 piston seized. All other pistons and the valves operated. The turbo flight 520 turbo normalizer installed with STC SE5222NM appeared normal, had no evidence of engine oil contamination, and the impeller moved freely. The oil filter was removed and opened, it was heavily contaminated with ferrous metal. The limited teardown revealed no specific reason for the oil loss or where the oil went.

As the FAA filed it
