(-23) The aircraft (N346DC), piloted by privacy data omitted departed butler-farmshow airport (3G9) at approximately 12:38 pm on Thursday, March 29, 2006 on his way to meadville, PA (gkj). After departure from the butler-farmshow airport and approximately 6 minutes enroute to meadville at an alitude of approximately 2500' (1000' AGL), the aircraft experienced a complete engine failure (loss of power). The pilot tried to restart the engine using the airstart procedure described in the aircraft flight manual (AFM). The pilot was unable to restart the engine, and he configured the aircraft for an emergency landing in a large vacant field. At approximately 12:44 pm, the aircraft crashed in a vacant farm field approximately 12 miles north from his point of departure. As the aircraft approached the open field from the south, there was a tree line with trees 35-45 feet tall. The pilot tried to avoid the trees by making a slight left turn. As the aircraft executed the left turn, the left wing lightly clipped the tops of the trees which slowed the aircraft down, and the aircraft impacted the ground approximately 45' beyond the tree line. The pilot sustained minor injuries, and the aircraft was destroyed. (-23 amendment) the aircraft (346DC) piloted by privacy data omitted departed butler-farmshow airport (3G9) at approximately 12:38 pm on Thursday, March 30, 2006 on his way to meadville, PA (gkj). After departing the butler-farmshow airport and approximately 6 minutes into the flight at an altitude of 2,500 feet (1000' AGL) the aircraft experienced a complete loss of power to the engine. The pilot stated he tried to restart the engine using the procedure described in the aircraft flight manual. However, the pilot was unable to restart the engine and he configured the aircraft for an emergency landing in a large vacant field. As the aircraft approached the open field from the south the left wing of the aircraft struck a tree. When the aircraft struck the tree the aircraft slowed down and stalled, impacting the ground approximately 45 feet beyond the tree line in an almost vertical position. The pilot sustained back injuries but was able to climb out of the aircraft and get clear of the wreckage. There was no fire of the wreckage..
