From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) 03-31-06-AT 10:55 am (CST) N138YV, a Beech BE-1900-D was on a reposition flight #9000 with crew only onboard from (ict) Wichita Kansas to dallas-fort worth, Texas (dfw). The cabin began to fill up with smoke. The crew declared an emergency and returned to Wichita. The landing was uneventful. Upon arrival to Wichita the oil levels were checked in the air cycle machine turbine and both engines. All were normal except the left engine was overserviced. Further investigation revealed that the mechanic did not have clear instructions on the proper procedures to service the engine. The engine oil level was adjusted. The engine was cleaned, ground run for approx. 20 min. The aircraft later departed to dallas-fort worth with no further discrepancies.
