From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) After touching down on runway 8L, the left main wheel left a series of long skid marks that veered leftward off the runway. There was evidence that the nosegear failed shortly after touchdown, after the left braking had started. The nosegear broke completely off just after the plane departed the runway to the left. Weather was reported by the control tower as 160 degrees at 18 knots, gusting to 28 knots. The controller's statement said that winds were reissued after the aircraft turned a two-mile final approach. The pilot had been cleared to land on the shorter 8L after requesting a clearance change from the previously cleared 8R.
