From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Airman was on a round trip flight from laramie, WY (lar) to carlsbad, NM (cnm) with a return to lar. Airman had the aircraft fueled at cnm using calculations based on previous fuel burn experience. During the flight from cnm to lar, the airman stated he encountered turbulence and had lowered the landing gear a few times for stability. Closer to lar, while being vectored around class b airspace (den), the aircraft lost power. Airman switched tanks and the aircraft regained power for a short period of time while airman set up an approach to fort Collins-loveland airport (fnl). Aircraft lost power again and could not be re-started. Airman trimmed for best glide ratio, selected an open field, and landed on a northerly heading. After a ground run of 270 feet, the aircraft crossed a farm road, hit a berm, and stopped after running into a fence.
