From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) American airlines aircraft 424AA, flight 2487, was taxiing eastbound on Phoenix sky Harbor taxiway delta with a Phoenix aviation department follow me truck leading the way after landing and enroute to the gate when the aircraft struck the right wingtip with a kiewit western company concrete texturing machine. The kiewit western co. machine was operating 33' south of the centerline in a construction area on the delta taxiway. The driver of the Phoenix aviation department follow-me was in communication with the aircraft via radio, but used hand signals to the American airlines pilots to move the aircraft to the left of centerline of the taxiway. The pilots saw the driver pointing to the left and started their left turn to the gate when they struck the concrete machine on the right wingtip. This incident occurred at night.
