From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot and passenger, his daughter, were at approx 1200 ft MSL approx 4 miles south of Paris/cox a/p (prx). Pilot noticed oil pressure drop from approx 43 PSI to approx 20 PSI. Pilot determined his location and was approx 2.5 miles from his personal airstrip and prx. Pilot elected to return to his home base. Pilot elected to descend to a lower altitude with the power loss. Pilot identified a large wheat field and made an off airport approach to wheat field. Wheat crop was approx 3-4 feet tall. As acft settled into wheat pilot states he is not certain the engine has already quit or was losing more power. Crop damage indicates acft traveled approx 80 ft before the crop dragged the acft into the ground. Acft impacted the ground on its nose approx 90 ft from initial crop damage mark, dug a hole in the dirt approx 6 in. Deep and flipped the acft over on its back.
