From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot states that on the morning of may 23, 2006 he departed vinland valley aerodrome (K64), baldwin city, Kansas, for a local flight. Upon return to the airport, the landing gear would not extend. After several unsuccessful attempts, the pilot made the decision to fly to new Century Aircenter (ixd), new Century, Kansas. One final attempt to lower the landing gear manually resulted with the handcrank breaking-off and the gear "jammed." Conversation with the ixd control tower verified the partial extension of both main landing gear, with no apparent extension of the nose gear. The pilot contacted maintenance personnel at ixd, and after the gear was retracted, a decision was made to perform a gear-up landing at ixd. A successful emergency landing was accomplished on runway 22, with minor damage to the aircraft and no injuries to the pilot. This incident privacy data omitted is considered closed.
