From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On may 25, 2006 at about 0945 an air-tractor 301, loaded with about 300 gallons of chemical experienced a power loss just after takeoff and about 200 AGL. Prior to the power loss the pilot heard a high pitched noise coming from the engine. The pilot was able to dump some of his chemical load prior to the forced landing in a bean field. The aircraft received minor damage to the main gear struts, tail wheel assy, and prop due to the hard landing and the pilot did not receive any injuries. It is not known at this time, but the engine internal blower is suspected as cause for the loss of power. An m&d report is forthcoming from the engine overhaul facility when the tear down of the engine is complete.
