From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot stated she took off from Bountiful Skypark airport on runway 16 heading south toward kanab, UT, and was about 5 miles from the airport when oil from the engine started to spray onto the windscreen. She stated she turned back towards the airport and intended to land on runway 34 at Skypark, but was too high and decided to land on runway 16. She turned to land on runway 16 and landed long running off the end of the runway and hitting a long pipe, damaging the pipe and the aircraft. Minor injuries to the pilot. On the aircraft, the firewall was bent, and the top motor mounts were bent. There was prop and nose gear damage. The pilot stated the engine still had power but was spraying oil. On inspection, it was determined oil was coming out of the front crankshaft seal on the engine. This was the first flight after an annual inspection. The aircraft logbooks have been requested and will be examined. This report to be amended when the information becomes available. (-23 amendment) this report is amended to add the total airframe hours in block #13, which was not available at the time of the original report.
