From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) privacy data omitted on the second attempt to take off the pilot got the aircraft airborne and could not clear the tree line at the end of the lake. At this point the pilot turned down wind to get to lower terrain. The pilot reported that he did not notice any anomalies with the aircraft, ie engine quit, loss of power or any other circumstances that could have contributed to the accident. The pilot thinks that he encountered a wind shear flying down wind which in turn caused loss of control of the aircraft. Amendment will follow after further investigation.
