From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Took off into wind 210-23 knots. Some waves but no white caps. Had steeper than normal bank to fly over trees, but had trouble gaining altitude. Made decision to return to lake for landing. Banked smoothly to left and wind shear kept raising right wing and pushing aircraft down. Brought plane down to 20 feet above water and began to deplete water surface for landing. Decision was made to pull power off too soon and wind pushed down right wing and landed hard on right float. Encountered small bounce, aircraft fell over to right side and flipped aircraft. Aircraft totalled due to snapped wing struts, rippled skin on fuselage, wing and water soaked avionic instruments. (-23 amendment) 12-01-06 the pilot privacy data omitted voluntarily surrendered private pilot airplane single engine sea certificate in lieu of re-examination. Temporary airman certificate issued by privacy data omitted
