From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft N4715E was enroute from cambridge, MN airport (cbg) to big fork airport (foz) cruising at 2500 feet when the engine sputtered and began losing power. The pilot privacy data omitted applied carburetor heat, checked main fuel supply, which was reading three fourths full, checked the magnetos, none of which corrected the problem. The pilot called the grand rapids airport and advised them of his situation. The aircraft continued to lose power and sputter. The pilot then elected to land the aircraft in a hay field adjacent to some farm buildings. The pilot had to clear some power lines and large hay bails before he could land the aircraft. The aircraft landed on an upslope in the field and bounced and then landed again. The aircraft continued off the end of the field and came to stop 51 feet from the end of the hay field in some brush. The right main landing gear collapsed under the aircraft. The left hand wing had damage to the leading edge. There was no damage that would qualify this incident as an accident.
