From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While descending from 10,000 feet to 4,000 feet, pilot stated that the engine went into an uncontrollable overspeed. Pilot immediately declared an emergency with youngstown air traffic control and was vectored to venango regional airport (fkl) whereas he was able to land without structural damage to the airframe. Inspection of the engine revealed the cap to the propeller governor laying against the engine cowling. One propeller flyweight was found broken from the hinge point assembly and the shaft and other internal propeller governor pieces were discovered scattered atop of the lower engine cowling. A large amount of ferrous metal fragments were extracted from the engine oil filter assembly. Four of the six propeller flange bolts had departed the aircraft. One of the propeller alignment pins were missing and the other was pushed to the end of the flange.
