From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Airman stated that in an attempt to avoid damage to his propeller on a gravel runway he elected to execute a soft field takeoff. He used two notches of flaps for the takeoff and when the aircraft lifted off he retracted flaps to one notch. He said the aircraft was not accelerating so he retracted the landing gear at approximately 20 feet above the runway. When the aircraft still would not accelerate he lowered the nose slightly and the aircraft began to settle toward the runway so he cut the power and moved the landing gear handle to the down position but the aircraft touched down before the gear extended. He also stated that the engine was only developing 2500 RPM when it should have been developing 2700 RPM. privacy data omitted

As the FAA filed it

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^
