From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was landing on a Private airstip 7 miles n of Springfield, MN. As the aircraft touched down the pilot believes the tail wheel assembly failed which made the aircraft uncontrollable. The aircraft veered off the runway and into the edge of a bean field where the aft fuselage, left wing, left aileron, and left main gear assembly were damaged. The pilot was not injured. The aft fuselage skin was crumpled as a result of the aft frame being twisted to the right. The left wing tip and aileron were both bent upwards. A broken bolt from the tailwheel assembly was recovered from the runway. Pilot may send bolt to the NTSB for evaluation.
