From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During ferry flight to field site, engine began to lose power, aircraft began losing altitude. Pilot performed emergency dump of ag chemical and maneuvered toward emergency landing site, a hay field approximately 800 feet long. Pilot landed the aircraft, however, during the landing rollout, the aircraft went through a shallow ditch running perpendicular to the landing direction; the aircraft went airborne, and landed again. The pilot then applied maximum braking and reverse thrust. The braking action and reverse thrust were insufficient due to the grass surface, and loss of engine power. The aircraft slid into the trees at the end of the field, struck a tree. The right main landing gear collapsed puncturing right main fuel tank. The pilot egressed without injury. Post-crash fire destroyed the aircraft.

As the FAA filed it
