From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Piper PA-24-180 departed love field (prc) prescott, Arizona for Yuma international airport, Yuma Arizona. Two (2) personnel were on board the aircraft, the aircraft owner and a pilot. On final approach to runway 17 at Yuma international the aircraft owner questioned the pilot if the landing gear was down and locked. The pilot responded yes see the light. As per the statement from the aircraft owner the cockpit was illuminated with bright sunlight. Just before touchdown the aircraft owner cupped his hand over the green landing gear extend/safe light and discovered it was not on. As the aircraft owner was getting ready to tell pilot not to land, the aircraft was skidding down the runway with landing gear retracted and in the wheel wells. After the occupants evacuated the aircraft and the fire department arrived, the aircraft owner looked into the aircraft cockpit and discovered that the landing gear circuit breaker was popped out. Inspection of the aircraft reviewed that the landing gear was indeed in the full up and retracted position upon touchdown.
