What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) On downwind, during takeoff the pilot encountered extreme vibration coming from the engine. The pilot shut down the engine and the vibration ceased. The pilot was able to glide to the runway and make an uneventful landing. The cause of the vibration was the loss of one propeller blade that had separated from the hub. The damage to the aircraft was substantial as the engine mount area of the firewall was damaged on this composite type motor glider.
