From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was landing on rwy 02 at Kennett Memorial Airport (tkx), Kennett, MO. Upon landing the pilot reported touching down at approx. 70 mph as stated in the AFM when he noticed a problem with the left main gear. It appeared to collapse and the aircraft skidded to a stop between the parallel taxiway and rwy 02. The lower piston assembly appeared to have rotated 180 deg counterclockwise. An examination of the scene showed skid marks from the right MLG approx. 500' from the runway approach end and then corresponding left main skid marks paralleling the right for several hundred feet then going into an s pattern. All marks veered to the left where the left wing/gear departed the runway and continued to slide both on the grass and runway where it tore out three taxiway lights, crossed an intersecting taxiway, continued for nearly 75' before exiting the runway where the right MLG dug a trench nearly 100' long before being pulled from the upper strut. The aircraft continued to slide for about 75' before stopping. Total capture marks were nearly 1500' long. The left MLG initially collapsed inboard then at some point was pulled outboard supporting the wing. Numerous prop strikes were noted.
