From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On September 17, 2006, at approximately 1945 EDT, N308AB was taxiing onto the customs ramp at Teterboro Airport, Teterboro, NJ returning from an overseas trip with passengers on board. It was dark and the ramp was unlighted. No line personnel appeared to marshal the aircraft. In order to park, N308AB had to turn left into a spot with its right wing and winglet passing close to the tail of N20VF, a falcon 20, which was parked and unmanned. The captain stated that he asked the first officer if they had enough room to clear the tail of N20VF and he answered yes. The first officer's statement corroborates this. During the turn, the top of the right winglet of N308AB contacted the underside of the right horizontal stabilizer of N20VF, continued across the right elevator, through the rudder and across the left stabilizer and elevator. The damage to N20VF was limited to deformation of the skins of the horizontal surfaces and a tear in the trailing edge of the rudder. The damage to N308AB was limited to scratching of the winglet. Statements from both crew members of N308AB are attached.
