From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot of this experimental-homebuilt Barracuda, reg# N515WH lost control of the aircraft during his travel down runway 32 at Warrenton-Fauquier Airport (W66). The weather was VMC with winds reported as a right-quartering crosswind at approximately 15 to 20 knots. Whether the aircraft was landing or performing a high-speed taxi as the pilot claims, he lost control and landed hard on the nosewheel. The nosegear linkage failed in an area which had excessive wear and corrosion, and the nosegear partially collapsed. Initial prop-strikes began 829 feet down the runway and 35 feet left of centerline. Skid marks from all three wheels veered from this point in a right turn exiting the right side of the runway 422 feet from the point of initial impact. The aircraft continued into the grass for 267 feet more and came to rest in an upright position with obvious damage limited to the propeller and nose gear. Regular prop strikes existed from the point of initial impact all the way down the runway and 50 feet into the grass.
