From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot stated that he took off from runway 27 at kcdw on 08/22/2006 at approximately 1830 EDT. Approximately 50 feet above the ground the engine began to run rough. The pilot discontinued the take off and touched down again on runway 27. Brakes were applied, but the aircraft overran the end of the runway, striking a runway light and damaging the right main wheel fairing and right flap. The aircraft was then taxied back to its tiedown space under its own power. The pilot reported that this aircraft had a similar problem several weeks earlier. It was inspected at that time by a repair station at kcdw, with no discrepancies noted and had flown several times since with no recurrence of the problem. Inspection by a properly rated repair station of the aircraft engine, ignition and fuel systems subsequent to this incident has again revealed no discrepancies. A statement from the pilot is attached. Pilot's statement: on Friday, September 22, 2006 at approximately 6:30 pm after the pre-flight N44733 (PA25-140) I taxi out to runway 27, the run up was normal. Cleared to take-off runway 27, I applied full power and start my takeoff roll. The aircraft lifts off the ground and climbs up to about 50 feet when the engine begins to run rough. I decided to abort the takeoff. I cut the power and applied full flaps and landed back on runway 27. I applied the brakes as the plane continued down the runway and then skid off the end of the runway onto the grass. The right side main gear struck a runway light scratching the wheel fairing. The aircraft was pushed back onto the taxiway by myself, my passenger pilot, privacy data omitted , the airport manager. I then taxied back to my tie down under the plane's own power. The tower asked if I needed assistance, I responded, no thank you. I called ^priv^ at c & w aero on Monday, September 25, 2006 as he was familiar with this problem. I had a similar running rough problem several weeks ago and they had checked it out. The plane has flown several times without problems since it was looked at by c & w. the plane was scheduled to go back to c & w on Friday, September 29, 2006 for maintenance and a complete check over. My total time: 1,500 time in make and model: 1,200 last three months: 15-20 hours bi-annual phase VI wings: August 24, 2005 N44733 total time approx: 3,600. All times are estimated.

As the FAA filed it

THE AIRCRAFT WAS PUSHED BACK ONTO THE TAXIWAY BY MYSELF, MY PASSENGER PILOT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ , THE AIRPORT MANAGER.
