From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot reportedly attempted takeoff at kentland airport (C0I) at 09:15 CT and was unable to maintain heading at high speed. The pilot stated he attempted to counter the torque attributes of the aircraft by applying rudder but apparently was not airborne and thus unsuccessful. The pilot stated he could not maintain directional control and aborted takeoff and consequently struck a runway light. The aircraft sustained minor damage and detached a float near the left main gear. There were no injuries or other damages reported. The pilot immediately reported the incident, removed the float and within an hour proceeded to fly the aircraft to griffith merrillville airpoort. The FAA was notified after the aircraft was transported and was inspected on October 2, 2006. The extent of damage was confirmed to be minor, as described (approximately $100).
