From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 10/05/2006, at approximately 1042E, aircraft was cleared for takeoff on runway 01, from Albany County Airport (alb). As aircraft continued runway heading at 200 KIAS, crew encountered a large flock of birds (geese) through 1500 msi, then heard a very loud bang from the right front side of the aircraft. As the aircraft approached 3000 MSL, crew notified ATC for vectors back to runway 01. Aircraft then landed and taxied to the ramp without further difficulty. Computed takeoff weight was 43,681, minus 700 lbs burn. Actual landing weight was 42,981. As a result, aircraft landed with an overweight condition. Preliminary inspection by reporting FAA inspector revealed extensive structural damage forward, and the right of the first officers wind screen. Damage to the upper nose area was approximately 2 feet in height, and 3 feet in length, from the nose bulkhead forward. One rib was observed bent with several broken stringers and missing rivets. Further, a portion of the aluminum skin at the seam was ripped loose from structure approximately 18 inches vertically, and 7 inches horizontally. privacy data omitted
