From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft N5292S was climbing out to 5500 ft after departing newton, KS (ewk) enroute to lee's summit, MO (lxt). The pilot reported to ATC a rough running engine and requested vectors to the nearest airport. The pilot then advised ATC the engine had stopped. It was determined that he would attempt to make it to chase county airport (9K0). The pilot reported that he was not going to make it to the airport and the highway below did not have much traffic on it. The aircraft landed uneventfully on highway 177 approximately one mile south of Cottonwood falls, KS. The pilot was able to coast the aircraft into a private drive and off the highway. The pilot reported no injuries and no damage to the aircraft or property.
