From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft departed from third lake, which is one of a chain of lakes, in a west/northwest direction and impacted the water on second lake approximately one mile after lift off. The floats were torn from the aircraft and two passengers seated in rear seats were thrown out of the aircraft by the force of the impact. The ejected passengers survived the accident with non life threatening injuries. The aircraft was able to maintain flight after the impact and flew to a grass strip located approximately seven miles west and made a successful crash landing. The pilot and the passenger seated in the right front seat were not injured during the crash landing. Planned corrective action has yet to be determined due to the fact that the cause of the accident has yet to be determined. (-23 amendment) privacy data omitted
