From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On November 8th, 2006 at 1109 PST, N37ML, a glasair I rg homebuilt aircraft, landed gear up on runway 27R at Gillespie field, El Cajon, CA. The pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft, privacy data omitted, was uninjured. The pilot stated that he had completed the before landing checklist "gump" check, on final approach. On short final, Gillespie ATCT instructed N37ML to "go around" as the controller noticed that the landing gear was not extended. The pilot did not execute the go around procedure in a timely manner. Subsequently, the aircraft landed gear up on the runway. While skidding to a stop, the aircraft veered to the right and damaged a runway light and sign. The aircraft came to rest just off the right side of runway 27R, just west of the intersection of runway 17/35. The aircraft sustained minor damage to the right wing and bottom of aircraft. When we arrived at the scene, the landing gear switch was in the down position. After the aircraft was raised with a forklift and straps, the master switch was turned on, the landing gear extended normally. The aircraft was released per privacy data omitted NTSB, via telecom.
