From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While taxiing for departure the pilot noticed that the left brake was not functioning normally. Due to the left brake problem, he decided to return to mercury FBO. Taxiing back the pilot kept power applied to the engine to deep the aircraft straight using the torque from the engine to help steer to the left and right brake to steer to the right. Once back on mercury's ramp the pilot cut the power to the engine. The aircraft then lost the ability to maintain a straight path. The aircraft veered to the right heading for an SR-22 parked on the ramp. Hoping to avoid hitting the SR-22 head on ,the pilot then applied full right brake thinking the aircraft would do a 180 degree turn. The aircraft, however, steered just to the right of the SR-22, both airplanes making contact with their left wing. The aircraft had a left brake problem during the summer. The aircraft was repaired and returned to service. This was the aircraft's first flight after an annual inspection. Departed palo alto landed at Burbank and then was to depart back to palo alto.

As the FAA filed it
