From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft was third in a flight of three, eastbound, enroute to runway 03 at westheimer field (oun) in Norman, OK. Aircraft had full flaps selected and slowed down to stay in trail of second aircraft. Aircraft started to stall and pilot turned north. Pilot applied power and aircraft banked sharply to the left, stalled and fell to the ground. Aircraft hit, nose down, on frozen gravel just west of the 135 access road. Landing gear collapsed and prop struck the ground. Aircraft then bounced north westward approximately 150 feet. Aircraft struck nose down. Crank shaft sheared and prop left the aircraft. Aircraft slid approximately fifty feet and came to rest in a westerly heading.
