From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) N66532, a BE-36-B36TC departed Houston's Hobby (hou) airport at approximately 1247 CST on an IFR flight plan to mid-way regional airport (jwy) near waxahachie, Texas. The pilot received three separate weather briefings from the montgomery county afss at 1413Z, 1608Z, and 1748Z. The weather 1853Z was reported as wind 070 degrees at 3 knots, 1SM visibility, light rain, scattered clouds at 400 ft, broken clouds at 700 ft, and overcast bases at 2400 ft, temperature 19C, dewpoint 18C, altimeter setting 30.14 in hg. The pilot reports that after takeoff the electrical system failed subsequent to his putting the landing gear handle in the up position. Rather than enter the clouds, he decided to remain clear of clouds and return for landing by making left traffic to runway 12R. He further reports that he made no attempt to use the alternate landing gear extension system, citing time constraints brought about by the poor weather conditions and his desire to remain in visual meteorological conditions. Upon touchdown on runway 12R the landing gear collapsed. There were no injuries to the pilot or his passenger.

As the FAA filed it
