From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On 12/15/2006, at approximately 1130 PST, Ayres S2R thrush aircraft, N4002S, collided with an automobile on the ramp of the Wheeler Ridge strip (no identifier). The pilot, privacy data omitted pilot in command of N4002S, operating under 14 CFR 137, landed on the agricultural operating strip and taxied into the ramp area to reload the aircraft hoppers. A sport utility vehicle (suv), with three occupants, entered the ramp from the south access road. The vehicle stopped in the center of the ramp area and one occupant exited the vehicle with a video camera to film the aircraft as it taxied. The driver and rear seat passenger remained the suv. The suv was situated so as to not be visible to the pilot during taxi into the ramp area. The airplane taxied into the unseen vehicle, striking the left front fender area of the suv with the propeller. The aircraft was immediately shut down and came to rest with the propeller imbedded in the driver's side door post. There were no injuries to the pilot or vehicle occupants. There was no structural damage to the airframe or engine mounts however, the propeller and engine sustained substantial damage.
