From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On dec 25 2006 aircraft #N5105C landed at down town Island airport Knoxville TN on runway 26 with the landing gear retracted. The pilot stated that during approach on downwind leg for runway 26 he was slightly high and extended the gear to assist in losing altitude. He then slowed the aircraft from 125 to 110 mph and trimmed the aircraft for landing. He further stated that he flew a normal base and final approach, performing a before landing checklist on final. He believed he saw a green landing gear panel light indicating gear down and locked. On touch down the aircraft came down flat on the belly sliding down the runway and stopped. The pilot was not injured and no aircraft fire. Aircraft was removed from the runway dec. 25 2006. On dec. 26 2006 the aircraft was inspected by FAA inspectors. Damage was to the propeller both blades curled, both nose gear doors outer skin damaged, aircraft belly damage around nose gear doors and aft, lower strobe light, both lower antenna's damaged, lower surface of left and right flap damaged with upper surfaces buckled.
