From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The flight originated at piatt county airport, monticello, IL (2K0) enroute to mid-america airport, mascoutah, IL (kblv). The pilot stated that it took unusually high power to taxi, but that the takeoff roll seemed normal. The pilot stated that after takeoff from 2K0, the landing gear circuit breaker tripped, and the gear would not fully retract. He reset the circuit breaker and attempted to lower the gear, and the circuit breaker once again tripped, and the landing gear would not fully extend. Flying at a reduced power setting, he attempted to diagnose the problem enroute. Unable to find the problem, he attempted to manually lower the gear using the emergency gear extension mechanism in conjunction with the emergency gear extension checklist. He stated that even with the manual system, after several attempts, he was unable to get the landing gear fully extended. Reaching klbv and making contact with the tower, he landed in the grass adjacent to runway 14L with the landing gear partially retracted. The gear up landing resulted in structural frame damage to the lower fuselage area.

As the FAA filed it
