From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On February 9, 2007, the pilot privacy data omitted departed from san diego, CA montgomery field (kmyf) at 3:15 pm PST in N5737M for an IFR flight to garden city, KS (kgck). On approach into kgck, the pilot privacy data omitted realized he was low on fuel and continued his approach to kgck knowing that the weather at kgck was below published minimums for the approach. The pilot privacy data omitted was forced to make a missed approach at kgck due to low visibility. The pilot privacy data omitted then asked Kansas city center for vectors to an airport where he could land nearby, advising center of his low fuel situation. N5737M then began running rough shortly after. About 2 minutes later, N5737M ran out of fuel forcing a landing off airport into a field 6 miles north of Ingalls, KS. No injuries occurred on landing, however the aircraft sustained substantial damage.
