What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) At approximately 1040L on February 10, 2007 aircraft N229P, piloted by privacy data omitted impacted a grouping of trees causing substantial damage to the aircraft. The pilot stated that he was making an approach to the grass strip that runs perpendicular to the runway when he realized that the aircraft was too high and too FAR down the runway. He then executed a "go around" but did not have enough airspeed to clear the trees that are at the departure end of the runway. He stated that he turned to the left to avoid hitting the big trees, buildings, and powerlines. The aircraft hit a large group of trees approximately 20 degrees left of the runway centerline. The aircraft came to rest at the base of the trees upside down and received structural damage to the wings, fuselage, and canopy.
