From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Received report of ground loop incident at rvl, which occurred 3/11/07 @ 1500 hrs. Pilot in command made report directly to FSDO. Pilot stated during interview that during three point landing in gusting crosswind conditions on rwy 24, aircraft was forced to rwy margin and began weathervaning into crosswind. AWOS @ rvl was reporting winds 330 degrees @ 9 knots gusting 14 knots. Pilot attempted to correct with rudder and brakes. Aircraft remained in ground contact during correction. Aircraft pitched forward and banked to the left, causing the left wing tip and propeller to strike ground. Minor aircraft damage sustained and no injuries sustained by two occupants. Discussed landing procedures with pilot, pilot acknowledged earlier recognition and correction of weathervaning due to crosswind component may have prevented incident. Pilot volunteered to accomplish recurrent training in crosswind landing procedures with local CFI. Matter considered closed.
