From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot listened to ATIS for orh and bed, winds at orh were reported calm bed 8. Pilot described the final approach as normal for 9B1. The engine was cleared prior to short final, no stall warning indicated. Very short final, prior to final obstructions a significant sink rate was encountered. Power was applied but was insufficient to counter shear. Wings made contact with trees, aircraft hit runway, spun around backwards, coming to rest approximately 50 feet off the runway. Pilot exited the aircraft, post crash fire ensued. The aircraft was destroyed.
