From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) April 16, 2007 at approximately 1337 EST operator was cleared to land at fxe runway 31. After touchdown, nose landing gear collapsed approximately 1000 feet down runway. Aircraft veered to the left of the runway, hit a 13-31/taxiway "c" sign, and came to rest on the pavement across "c" taxiway. No injuries reported. One pilot, one passenger. All three main landing gear were in the down and mechanically locked position. Visual inspection revealed right side truss mount to the nose landing gear actuator had cracked through allowing the nose landing gear to collapse. Aircraft encountered substantial structural damage to engine firewall during the nose landing gear collapse. After landing, sliding down the runway, without the benefit of the nose landing gear, the left wing spar encountered substantial damage by twisting both inboard and outboard of the left main landing gear. Pilot statement: departed myat at 12:15 pm edst, April 16, 2007 with destination of fxe. Obtained weather briefing and filed VFR flight plan from miami fss prior to departure via telephone, opened VFR flight plan with freeport radio and asked for and received VFR flight following from miami center from the air. Listened to fxe ATIS (xray) approximately 25 miles east of fxe and requested runway 31 from fxe tower. Cleared to land by fxe tower on runway 31. Executed a normal approach and landing with 85-87 kph approach speed, two notches of flaps and verification of landing gear down and locked. Smooth normal landing. After initial rollout, aircraft veered uncontrollably left despite the application of right rudder. Aircraft swerved into runway 13-31/taxiway "c" sign and came to rest on the nose just beyond the sign on paved area on left side of runway 31 across "c" taxiway. All fuel/electrical switches were closed or shut off and pilot and passenger exited aircraft through cabin door.

As the FAA filed it
