From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The pilot stated while he was attempting a crosswind landing on runway seven (07) at the Soldotna municipal airport (sxq) Alaska, the aircraft drifted to the right off the runway. He stated as the aircraft left the runway he attempted countering the drift with rudder and aileron applications, but the aircraft left the runway and traveled over a small snow ridge alongside the runway. The aircraft then traveled into a soft sod area and flipped over as the wheels sank into the soft surface. During the event, the wing struts and top of the rudder were damaged as it completed the roll over. The pilot stated he only had two (2) hours of flight time in the make and model of aircraft and should have received some dual instruction in it prior to solo flight. The aircraft was a PA-22 that had been converted to conventional gear.
